 Lead Canopy – Sevenoaks

A recent project in Sevenoaks, Kent. A lead canopy with welded lead cappings. These images show a newly built Oak framed porch, the extension gave the customers a beautifully decorative and useful new area in their home. I was commissioned to create a lead Canopy for the porch.

I created this lovely decorative canopy with evenly spaced wood roll (mop stick) fitted with code 5 lead bays and ridge caps. Once the oak frame had been erected, I fitted ply wood to create equal bay sizes and to start fitting new code 5 lead bays.

As you can see from the images, the shape of the lead canopy allowed me to build a nice looking Herringbone layout. The final lead hip capping was filled, which gave the porch roof a nice decorative look.

This was a great lead canopy to work on and I was very pleased with the end product. The images show my part of the project, from start to finish. Unfortunately I didn’t get to see the lead porch tiled and finished, as the building work continued after I left.
